The Most Inspiring Walking Holidays in the Himalayas

The highest peaks in the world form the inspiring backdrop to our Himalayan walking trips in India and Nepal. These are mountains that everyone dreams of seeing and experiencing, and no one forgets their first view of the mystical summits that have long captivated travellers and explorers.

Our walking and trekking holidays in the Himalayas offer options for every level of walker, and, because you walk in your own party with a private guide, you journey at your own pace, with plenty of time to pause and admire the views. On most trips, you trek from village to village, with a wonderful sense of discovery as you progress to the next welcoming village, with its own, community-run guesthouse.

Walking holidays with Village Ways are experiences you will never forget, bringing you closer to remote communities in unspoiled corners of the world. With your own private local guide, you will truly get under the skin of these amazing places.

Flexible hiking holidays, from village to village

Our walking holidays in Binsar, north India, are ideal for every level of walker. The altitude is not high, reaching a maximum of around 2400m, and the routes each day are flexible, meaning you can choose with your guide how much walking you wish to do each day. Paths are well-made and there are not too many steep sections. For first-time visitors to the Himalayas, our walking tours in Binsar are ideal, and the panoramas of the high peaks such as Nanda Devhi are unforgettable.

Rewarding walking close to the High Peaks

Close to the border with Tibet, the Indian valleys of Saryu and Pindar offer marvellous Himalayan walking holidays, with occasional steep sections, and fully accessible to reasonably fit walkers. You have your own private guide, so you set the pace that suits you. The views of the high peaks are unsurpassed, as they appear so close – a quite amazing experience. One of the very best hiking routes available in Northern India, and much loved by our guests.

Unspoiled Nepal – a paradise for walkers

Our walking holidays to the Sailung area of Nepal offer rewarding walking days, with plenty of ascents and descents as you wind your way around the valleys. There is a real sense of achievement and discovery, and the views, especially from Sailung peak, are extraordinary, great sweeping panoramas of the highest peaks in the world. As with all our walking and trekking holidays, you walk from village to village in your own group, not as part of a larger group, and your bags are carried by porters. Expect great food, and the warmest of welcomes, in our comfortable village guesthouses.

Jungles of Central India - wildlife & walking

Our walking trips to Madhya Pradesh offer the amazing experience of walking in some of India's most wildlife-rich landscapes, where you may spot deer, bears or even tiger! This is good quality walking, with some long days, in wild, often rugged landscapes. Guests have loved walking in this little-discovered region, and the scenery is rugged and varied. Highly recommended.

Walking trips in the Simiens & Tigray, Ethiopia

On our inspirational walking trips to Northern Ethiopia, you walk from village to village in astonishing landscapes, accompanied by your own private guide, and staying in locally-managed guesthouses, a real encounter with authentic Ethiopia. Choose from the Simien Mountains and rugged Tigray.
