The end of summer is always an important, exciting and busy time in our partner communities, as preparations for the new season reach their peak. The main guest season is fast approaching, and our villages have been busy making sure everything is ready. Our regional coordinators help organise the work, and also keep the management team informed about progress.
In the south of India, there has been major work with our Goodearth houseboat. The dry dock has now been completed under the supervision of coordinator Basheer and the committee president. This will shortly be followed by the changing of the boat's main canopy. Everything will be ship-shape by the time the first guests set sail this autumn!
In Saryu, high in the Indian Himalayas, we have changed the tents at Jakuni campsite – one of the highlights of our walking holidays here is a night in the tented camp with quite incredible mountain views. Our managing director, Manisha Pande, joined regional coordinator Pooja and team member Tara to check the quality of the new tents at the manufacturers, Paramount in Dehradun. A second visit was made by Tara when the order was ready. The tents have now reached Saryu and the committee has pitched one of them to check the quality and everyone seems satisfied. The new tent is shown here.
In the Binsar region, the guesthouse at Kathdhara boasts a handsome new ceiling in the dining/sitting room.
Many of our communities, throughout India, Nepal and Ethiopia, have been doing hundreds of small but vital maintenance tasks to help ensure the comfort of our guests, and we thank them for their care and help.
