Village Ways wins World Responsible Tourism Award

We were delighted to be awarded the Best For Poverty Reduction at the prestigious 2017 World Responsible Tourism Awards at the World Travel Market in London in November. The special report on the winning companies is well worth reading (download it here), and highlights the excellent work being done by an amazing range of tourism organisations, from TUI Cruises in Germany to Crystal Creek Meadows in Australia, where there are just four cottages on a 16-acre site. The report highlights the work we, Village Ways, have done in partnership with our village communities since our launch in 2005, and the efforts we undertake to be transparent about how the communities benefit from our trips.

Our MD Manisha Pande flew over from India for the Awards, and to take part in a panel discussion there. She took the opportunity to meet for productive meetings with UK-based members of the Village Ways team, as we look to continuing our steady growth in the next few years. We discussed many issues, from developing new partnerships in India and beyond, to how to market our holidays more effectively.

Our ethos is very much based on developing holiday concepts that provide inspirational trips for discerning travellers, while delivering important financial and social benefits for the communities that host guests. It is humbling to be recognised with awards such as this, and it drives the team on to work even harder in partnership with our villages.
